How is a real Crystal skull made?

Do you know how a crystal skull is formed? How are they carved, are they rubbed to get there shape? if they are rubbed and polished to get there shape then how would you know where you rub and polish to make the shape? and that would take a very very long time.
Oh sorry if i wasnt specific enough for you, i ment real old, made by people not of our time. a crstal skull made in the present would be a remake not a real one, to me. Although anyone that can make a perfict crystel skull even today has much talant
